These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the installation and use of the r/SJEarthquakes Bot (“the app”, “the bot”), an open-source moderation tool built on Reddit’s Devvit platform. By installing or using the app, the installing moderators and subreddit agree to these Terms.
Description of the app
The app is a moderation bot for subreddits following the San Jose Earthquakes. It automatically posts and manages match-day threads (pre-match, match, post-match, and Man of the Match), monthly ticket threads, and official club news posts, and it performs related housekeeping such as applying flair and stickying, un-stickying, and locking threads.
The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the San Jose Earthquakes, Major League Soccer, ESPN, or Reddit, Inc. Team names, logos, and content referenced by the app remain the property of their respective owners.
Moderator responsibilities
Moderators who install and configure the app are responsible for:
- Choosing which threads the bot posts and configuring its settings appropriately for their community.
- Ensuring the bot’s use complies with Reddit’s User Agreement, Content Policy, and all applicable Devvit developer terms and subreddit rules.
- Monitoring the bot’s activity on their subreddit and adjusting or disabling it as needed.
Acceptable use
The app must not be used to violate Reddit’s rules, infringe third-party rights, or distribute unlawful or harmful content. Moderators may not misrepresent content posted by the bot as official communications of the San Jose Earthquakes or any other rights holder.
Third-party data
The app retrieves publicly available schedule, match, and news data from third-party sources (ESPN and the official San Jose Earthquakes website). That content is provided by those third parties and may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable. The app does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any third-party data it displays.
Availability and “as is” disclaimer
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The maintainer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects, and may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app at any time without notice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to the use of, or inability to use, the app.
License
The app’s source code is released under the BSD 3-Clause License.
Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” above and the version published in the app’s repository. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
